Chapters 10-12

One of the quotes in the book that i found that is in the terms of life is on page 94 " This, my body and spirit, this is the end of the quest. i wished to now the meaning of things. I am the meaning. i wished to find a warrant for being. I need no warrant for being. and no word of sanction upon my being. i am the warrant and the sanction." He is basically saying that he is in charge of his own life and he is the warrant controlling it. He is building independence which everyone will need in life.

The next one is on page 104. " For the coming of that day shall I fight, i and my sons and my chosen friends. For the freedom of Man, For his rights. For his life. For his honor." I like this one because its saying he and his brothers and friends are going to fight for what they believe in, fighting for their own rights. They want to live with freedom, not like they did, they lived how everyone else wanted them to live. But not anymore:)

Chapters 7-9

In the story "Anthem" Equility 7-2521 really doesn't feel anything towards the beginning. He is raised in a certain way and they do not disobey it or go around it. They stick to the way they have been taught. On page 83 Equility says " our dearest one. Fear nothing of the forest. There is no danger in solitude. We have no need of our brothers. Let us forget their good and our evil. let us forget all things save that we art together and that there is joy as a bond between us." " It is our own world, Golden One, a strange unknown world, but our own." So this gives me the impression that now that he found " Golden one, he doesn't care bout how he was raised. He wants to live in his own way with " Golden one," Equility realizes how evil his society is and that its not the right way to live.

Chapter 3-6

Equility is interested in knowing what his own face and his own image looks like for the first time. He states "For this wire is as a part of our body, as a vein torn from us, glowing without blood. Are we proud of this thread of metal, or of our hands which made it, or is there a line to divide these two?"(61) He created electricity and he wants to see what made this fantastic creation. " Men never see their own faces and never ask their brothers about it, for it is evil to have concern for their own faces or bodies." (61-62)  Equilitys emotion is probably curiosity. He is curious about his own self for once.

Chapter 2

I think that equality is trying to recapture death. The reason i think this is because it says " we shall not call death upon our head." Which makes me believe that, thats the word he is  trying to explain. Mentioning this word is punishable by death because if you speak of death then you will be put to death. Its rediscovery could lead to the truths about death.

Chapter 1

Anthems society could be compared to the dark ages. It seems to be later on into the future. There education is very basic because they only teach them how to survive, they didn't learn very much about science, math, english or anything else. "But we could not speak and we stood there looking upon them." (page 33) People in this novel also manipulate other people, because they are raised into being scared and being told what to do. No i would not want to live in this society because i hate being held on a short leash and being told what to do. I also like learning and getting a education and they don't do that in this society.
